Weld and grind spatter

The spark doesn’t land on the glass: it lands in it.

Embedded spatter and grinding damage next to glass that is already installed. The spark arrives hot, embeds itself and fuses into the surface.

What causes it

  • Grinding. The spark is thrown out and arrives at speed: it goes in on impact.
  • Welding. Slag arrives hotter than a grinding spark and burns its own way in.

Both end the same way: the particle is fused into the glass, which is why each point has a crater and a halo around it.

What not to do

Scraping doesn’t lift it: it drags it, and turns a point into a line. And if there is going to be welding or grinding near installed glass, covering it first costs far less than bringing it back afterwards.

What we do

We don’t grind. Polishing means grinding, and grinding leaves a lens that shows from the street. Combined chemical and physical action: the burn is gone and the panel keeps its original properties. It is done in place, without taking the panel out.

What we don’t treat

  • Broken or cracked glass — that one does need replacing.
  • Coated glass and textured glass.
  • Very deep burns close to the frame.

Saying so up front beats a promise we can’t keep.

Both come down to the condition of the piece and where it is. We don’t post a number we can’t hold to: send us a photo and we’ll answer both, and whether it can be brought back or the panel has to be replaced.
