Scratched glass
A scratch almost never means replacing the panel.
Razor blades, mortar, handling and abrasive cleaning. Deep and surface. The panel went in clean: the scratch arrived later, during construction.
What causes it
- Razor blades. Scraping paint with a blade leaves straight, deep marks.
- Mortar and stucco. Cured material scrapes off badly and drags grit across the glass.
- Contaminated cleaning. Dirty water and a gritty rag: fine scratching across the whole area.
- Handling and setting. Hoisting and adjusting on site: panel-to-panel and panel-to-frame contact.
What we do
We don’t grind. Polishing means grinding, and grinding leaves a lens that shows from the street. Combined chemical and physical action: the scratch is gone and the panel keeps its original properties. It is done in place, without taking the panel out.

- Broken or cracked glass — that one does need replacing.
- Very deep scratches close to the frame.
Saying so up front beats a promise we can’t keep.

Both come down to the condition of the piece and where it is. We don’t post a number we can’t hold to: send us a photo and we’ll answer both, and whether it can be brought back or the panel has to be replaced.
